Submission Guidelines

If you would like to submit an essay, letter or article for publication on this web site, please check to see that your submission meets with our simple guidelines.

Please use the "Feedback Form" for your article submission. Fill out all necessary aspects of the feedback form and then simply copy/paste your article from plain text format (email, NotePad, TextPad, etc.). Note: Do not send your article in "rich text" or other formatted text such as MS Word, WordPerfect, etc. Formatted text does not copy well to web pages.

On the feedback form, you will note that you must answer two questions and affirm one statement. The two questions are: 1) Is it okay to publish your name along with your article?, and 2) Is it okay to publish your city/state/country along with your article?

The affirmation that must accompany all submissions is to type the word "YES" in the box provided, indicating that you agree to hold Steve Harrison and the Yankee Air Pirates web site harmless for any adverse reaction to what you might write. You can submit an article without doing that, but it won't get published on this web site.

Please understand that we will edit all submissions for legal considerations such as libel, hate speech, etc. Articles which we believe may cross the line into those territories will be rejected for publication. Even so, there is no guarantee that someone will not take offense at what you write and bring suit against you.

Do understand that your affirmation that "YES," you agree to hold Steve Harrison and the Yankee Air Pirate web site and domain name harmless means you would be on your own with such matters if they should befall you.

While I will proofread for the purpose of determining legality, nobody at this home office is qualified to render a legal opinion, so the fact that we may publish your article does not assure you that it is beyond any legal challenges. So, be your own best copy editor and don't even bother submitting an article which you may believe would subject yourself to charges of libel, hate speech, etc. Steve Harrison and the Yankee Air Pirate web site and domain name will not be a party to defending any such law suite.

Please keep the word count of your article under 800. You can fudge on this a tad if it neally needs just a little bit more to make the point. For a quantitative definition of what represents a "tad," see "skosh."

Again, while we will edit with an eye to not subjecting you or this web site to any legal challenges, we will NOT edit for spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, etc. That's entirely up to you, but do know that a poorly written article will stand little prospect of being published to this web site.

Hint, as a general rule (already broken on this web page), it has been determined that most Internet visitors prefer reading text in paragraphs which are held to not more than 5 lines. Six is okay if necessary; two a little short. Three-to-five lines is best. More people will read your entire article if you heed this guideline.
